Crowns and Bridges Treatment in Thailand
Crowns and Bridges Treatment in Thailand

Have you suffered an injury where your teeth were damaged or were lost completely? Do you find yourself in situations where everyone is laughing at a joke, but all you can actually do is smile without revealing those ugly damaged teeth? Well, at MedAsia Healthcare Complex, in Bangkok, Thailand, we have just the right solution for you.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and bridges are fixed appliances that replace natural teeth, which have been damaged, become decayed, or have been lost due to injury. While it is possible to take out devices like dentures you cannot remove crowns and bridges because they are cemented onto your existing teeth.

How does a crown work?

The crown covers the damaged tooth, thereby improving its general appearance and shape. If you have an implant, the crown can be easilypositioned over that to provide it with the conventional tooth shape. Crowns are made of porcelain and ceramic materials and these can be matched to the color of your natural teeth. Gold and other metal alloys are also used. Porcelain fused to metal is the strongest material; apart from providing strength it also gives an attractive appearance. These alloys are very strong and are recommended for teeth at the back of your jaw.

When do you need a crown?

Your dentist may ask you to have a crown in the following situations:

- To fill a gap in your teeth
- When your tooth is very weak and it needs to be protected from further damage
- When your existing damaged tooth needs to be protected
- When a bridge needs to be attached
- You have a dental implant and want to cap it
- Your tooth is badlystained or is poorly shaped
- You have had root canal treatment and want to cover that tooth

How do bridges work?

When there are gaps in between your teeth due to missing teeth, the nearby teeth, over a period of time, will move into those empty spaces. This results in “bad bite”, and can eventually lead to TMJ disorders. Bridges are used to supplement missing teeth. They are bonded to the natural teeth or implants (also known as abutments) near the vacant space. This replacement tooth or pontic is now attached to the crowns, which cap the abutments.

There are numerous choices that you can go for in bridges. The fine prosthodontists at MedAsia Healthcare Complex, Thailand can help you decide which to go for.

Will the crowns and bridges last?

Normally crowns and bridges last for a long time. However, it may be possible that they become loose and fall out. In order to avoid that we at MedAsia Healthcare Complex, Thailand tell our patients to practice good oral hygiene. This is because due to decayed or damaged teeth the bridge can lose its support.

Don’t chew hard food or ice in order to prevent damage to newly placed crowns and bridges.
