Experience The Art of "Dental Extreme Makeover" in MedAsia Healthcare Complex at, Thailand

Dental veneers orporcelain veneers, are extremely thin and tailored shells of materials the color of natural human teeth. These laminates are meant to conceal the front part of the teeth. These shells are stuck to the front part of the teeth, thereby altering the color, size, shape and length of the teeth, and giving a much better overall appearance. Though dental veneers can be prepared from porcelain or from the resin composite materials, porcelain veneers are more resistant to stains than their resin counterparts. They also ape the natural teeth’s fluorescence, opalescence and natural translucency far better.

You need veneers for the following reasons:
  1. To remove stains caused by a variety of reasons such as root canal treatment, stains caused by tetracycline or other drugs, excessive fluorideor large resin fillings in the mouth
  2. Worn out teeth
  3. Chipped, broken, misaligned, uneven or irregularly shaped teeth containing craters or bulges
  4. Gaps between teeth
Advantages of veneers:
  • They look just like natural teeth
  • Gum tissue can accept porcelain
  • Porcelain veneers resist stains
  • Porcelain veneer comes in several shades, which can make dark teeth look whiter
  • With veneers, you don’t need to shape the tooth extensively before starting out on a procedure, as in the case with crowns. Despite this, veneers provide a stronger and a better cosmetic alternative to traditional bonding
Maintenance: Veneers do not require any special care, particularly if you follow good oral hygiene habits such as brushing and flossing your teeth as usual.

How to get a porcelain veneer done?

We at MedAsia Healthcare Complex at Bangkok, Thailand, can take care of this process deftly. This procedure requires you to come to our dentists' twice—once for a consultation and the second, to make the veneers and have them applied by them.

Several steps make up the entire procedure. These are: diagnosis and treatment planning, preparation and bonding – all of which are professionally and easily done at MedAsia Healthcare Complex at Thailand.

Let’s consider the steps in detail…

Diagnosis and treatment planning

This first step involves the active cooperation between the operative and cosmetic dentist and you. Let the dentist know exactly what you have in mind. Now, the dentist will examine your teeth to see whether dental veneers are, in fact, right for you. He will also discuss the kind of procedure he has in mind for you and he will discuss this with you and tell you of its limitations. He might also need to take X-rays of your teeth and mouth and make impressions of them.

Preparing the tooth

In order to get a tooth ready for a veneer, about 0.5 mm-1 mm of enamel is removed from the surface of the tooth, almost the thickness of the veneer that must be added to the tooth surface. Next, an anesthetic is used to numb the area so that the enamel can be removed.

Now, the dentist will make a model of your teeth. He then sends this model to the in-house dental laboratory, which constructs your veneer. This entire process takes about six days. If you have very unpleasant looking teeth, your dentist may volunteer to place temporary dental veneers.

Bonding

At this stage, the dentist will place the dental veneer against the tooth that needs veneering to check for the right color and fit. Until a 100% fit is achieved, the dentist will continue to remove and trim the veneer. Just as the fit can be achieved by trimming the size of the veneer, so also the shade of the veneer can be adjusted so that it resembles the color of cement.

Next, the dentist will clean and polish your tooth by way of preparing it before putting on the veneer. This action gives the tooth a rough surface so that the tooth surface facilitates better and stronger bonding.

The dentist then places special cement to the veneer and then places the veneer on your tooth. After positioning the veneer perfectly on the tooth, the dentist subjects it to a special beam of light which serves to activate certain chemicals in the cement that help it to harden faster.

Lastly, any excess cement is removed. The dentist tries out your bite and makes any final adjustments required.
